Week Two :o) -- Revised

I had a great time delivering Saturday. I have ideas of how to improve, but I think for the first time of making massive quantities it turned out pretty good. Hopefully, everyone liked the pot pie and soup! I just got home from the store buying more beans. I bought 400 oz. of beans for Monday. The checker thought that I was crazy!

I estimated perfectly today and there were no leftovers whatsoever, but if you check the blog on delivery day and there are overages, I will put any up for sale on a first-come-first-serve basis.

So here's week two (ordering info on the right side bar):

Wednesday, June 1st
-- as a recap, French Onion Soup and Chicken, Pasta, Spinach Salad (description below) orders have already been taken. Thank you to everyone who ordered! I will take additional orders on these two items until Monday at 5:00 pm.

Saturday, June 4
Coconut Macadamia Cake -- This is a very rich, moist, single layer cake. It has coconut and macadamia nuts laced through the cake and topped with a cream cheese frosting with a crown of toasted coconut and a few more macadamias for good measure. The cake is made in a torte pan for a beautiful presentation. $15 per cake

Monday, June 6
Pick-up orders only. I was speaking to someone today about this little venture and she mentioned that it would be helpful to have more selections Monday - Thursday when she was working. After 25 years of working, I agree! So, I've added an entree.

Chicken Alfredo -- I think this is one of the most comforting foods ever! There will be a 8 x 6 and 13 x 9 size available. I will be using penne pasta (more room for the luscious, creamy sauce :o) and moist, oven roasted chicken smothered in a creamy Alfredo sauce. The Alfredo sauce has two types of cheese with just the right amount of fresh garlic. I'm confident that you will be pleased! 8" x 6" $12, 9" x 13" $20

I will be baking homemade bread. There's nothing quite as comforting as fresh bread directly from the oven. Come and pick it up while it's hot. $2.25 per loaf (1 lb). With the new addition of the chicken Alfredo, you can have your choice of Italian seasoned bread sticks to accompany your chicken Alfredo. 75 cents each (they are big).

Lemon Cupcakes (see below) available Monday for pick-up only.

Wednesday, June 8

Pulled Pork -- Slow roasted pork, shredded in a sweet, but tangy sauce. This is my mother-in-law's recipe and definitely a family favorite. This will be sold in quart containers. I've never made it by "servings", but my logic is that since a quart is 32 oz and a normal serving of meat is 4 oz, that a quart should serve 6-8 people. $13 per quart

Homemade Buns -- the perfect compliment to the pulled pork. This takes the shredded pork to another level. Topped with sesame seeds. $4 per doz. Limited quantities.

Lemon Cupcakes -- These beauties have a following. Many of my friends think that they are the best thing I make. Very moist cupcake with just the right amount of tartness. The icing on this cupcake is incredible! It's made with freshly squeezed lemon juice. Many of my friends request these little darlings when given a choice of a treat. I can't bring myself to charge bakery prices for them -- who can afford $2.50 a piece? They will gladly go home with you for $1.00 each or $10.00 per dozen. Available Wednesday or Monday (pick up).

Maiden Voyage -- Orders Closed

For years friends have told me that they would love me to cook for them. When I'm nervous or stressed, I start cooking. Lately, my family can't eat it all :o) So, I've decided to offer a "meals delivered to your home" available for any one who is too busy this summer to cook or just wants a night off :o) I will offer several options each week at reasonable, competitive prices and a variety of quantities to suit your family. I will also make custom meals or desserts (birthday cakes, treats for get togethers, etc.) on a case-by-case basis.

If you are interested in receiving emails with the weekly options, please comment below. Also, if you know anyone who may be interested, please feel free to let me know their email or feel free to forward the message.

I am making chicken pot pie and creamy chicken soup this weekend (available Saturday). You can choose between the pot pie which contains onion, potatoes, carrots, peas, corn, and celery in a very creamy sauce. This is my family's favorite meal. Hands down. Pure comfort food. It will be topped with a hand-made pie crust. 8 x13 pan $20, 8 x 6 pan $12. If you prefer soup, it has onion, carrot and old fashion noodles in the same creamy sauce. $6 per quart or $22 per gallon. Seasoned homemade bread twists at .75 each.

Monday is Memorial Day. If you need baked beans, I have a great recipe with sauteed vegetables and apple wood bacon. I was once told by someone that he would walk for a mile naked in the rain for these beans. He may have been exaggerating, but they are very good :o) $5 per quart. Available Monday morning.

It's been so cold lately, that I'm craving French Onion Soup. This will warm anyone from the inside out. It is made with onions that have been caramelized for hours, three types of demi-glaze, Parmesan Toast Crisps, and a medley of three cheeses on top. $6 per quart or $22 per gallon. The soup will freeze well. It will be available next Wednesday, June 1st.

I'm also offering Chicken Pasta Spinach Salad. This is my most requested recipe. It features pasta in a light dressing along with tender roasted chicken, spinach, cashews, sunflower seeds, and Parmesan cheese. $5 per quart or $20 per gallon. The salad will be delivered "un-tossed" so that you can serve it the delivery day or a day or two later.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you want any of the above as soon as possible or if you would like to continue to receive offers. For those of you who order, Mark thanks you for sparing him seeing the weight gain on the scale :o)
